What Does The Reformation Mean to YOU?

patrickvossen.com - Weblog

Reformation ends not in contemplation, but in action.

- George Gillespie

Definition of Reformation

The act of reforming, or the state of being reformed; change from worse to better; correction or amendment of life, manners, or of anything vicious or corrupt; as, the reformation of manners; reformation of the age; reformation of abuses.

Reformation and Renovation.

Reformation to most is a period of Christian history where Catholicism
clashed with the Reformers, Calvin, Knox, Luther, Zwingli and others.
However, it was more than an historical event. For it also can become
a personal work in our own lives. When we choose by our actions to allow
God to change and cleanse in a wonderfully pure and personal way our
every day living.

This can only be accomplished by a personal acknowledgment of the need
for change, but the actual reforming doesn't occur till we release
ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit. Then do what we find is
necessary to bring about the positive changes necessary in our lives
to radically alter our form of religion in application. Not allowing it
to just become a statement of faith upon a poster board in my
life, but a living breathing expression of who Jesus Christ is in my
personal life.

This type of reformation can offer God the the opportunity to renovate
your spiritual house, without having to tear it all down. The only problem
is, " How long are you going to put it off ? " Its my prayer you will
give God the opportunity to reform your world and give him the chance
to show you the blueprint of a new YOU. Which can see the Holy Spirit
make you into that house built upon the rock, whose builder and maker
is God.

creation it says in the Book of Genesis. Wow! You can't deny certain
factors when its over. Something very wrong is going on. Politicians,
citizens or anyone else could value from this movies simplicity and
poignancy.

Good Friday. The Lord's Road To Calvary.

Many years ago when I was a teenager and had really had my " conversion " experience. One where the Lord really and truly became my Lord. I had a unique message I had just recently heard on tape by the Rev. Kloepper. Who was a doctor who gave a medical perspective on the aspects of Calvary and what Christ bore for us. It touched my heart so much and it convinced me and convicted me of my lack of appreciation of Christ's Gift of Love at Calvary.

I was so amazed that this man from Galilee. Who walked and ministered for many years and shared His gifts and graces. Would make his was to a place called Golgatha and allow himself to be nailed at a tree. Forgetting the pain and rejection of friends and loved ones. Giving of himself as he saw the Big Picture that the Father had placed within his heart. He knew this was his appointed time, and a place where all humanity would one day look to for hope in the midst of this world we live. For he would give himself up as the ultimate sacrifice lamb once and for all. No more need for perpetual gifts at the altar, no more need for many of the ceremonial practices of the law. He was establishing a higher order covenant of Grace. Which would bring humanity back into the Father's love by faith in Christ's ultimate gift at the Cross. Oh what a day for all humanity, what a great gift of sacrifice by the Son of God.

It wasn't long after I listened to Dr. Kloepper's message that I wrote a song entitled " Upon Golgatha ". Its had one or two revisions, but it embraced all I felt about the Cross and the love that he gave more me. I am ever thankful for the Old Rugged Cross and what Christ has done for us on the hill called Golgatha. Many are the songs that have been sung, the testimonies that have been given, the books that have been written. However, the greatest thing about the Cross is what it can mean for you and me, if we embrace the man from Galilee. Acknowledging that he's not just another icon, he's not just another historical figure, but none other than the Great I Am. God in flesh the Godhead see, hail the incarnate Deity. Yes, JESUS! Would you give him a chance to come into your heart today and do for you what he has done for millions of others? Give him your life today, embrace the Grace of God. Receive forgiveness of your sins and He will implant His Holy Spirit within you and give you new hope.

Thank God for Calvary. Thank God for the Blood. Thank God He made a way for you and for me.

Chorus ( " Upon Golgatha," By Patrick Vossen )

" Upon Golgatha, He purchased my salvation. Upon Golgatha He died for my
sins. Upon that cruel, cruel cross upon Golgatha He died for me, so that I
could have eternal life "

Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday.

Today we honor the Lord's Supper preceding the Easter Weekend
and our celebration of the Lord's Death and Resurrection. Also,
in some settings of Christianity a foot washing is traditional
for this Christian Holiday.

Traditional Reading from John Chapter 13:1-20 NKJV

1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”

7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”

12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19 Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He. 20 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Here in this passage of New Testament scripture the setting for the Last Supper and footwashing ceremony are commemorated. We also have the charges of the Lord on a couple of issues, and the beginning stages forthcoming in the verses following concerning the betrayal of Judas Iscariot.

In this powerful setting we have so many awesome Christian practices mentioned. I would also like to say as well some of the best imagery of the Church. For here our the beginning stages of what would become a memorial supper we in Christianity cherish. With all its powerful historical narratives concerning the steps being laid for fellowship in the early church, and the Lord's crucifixion and resurrection.

Here during this Easter Week a great deal of the Church's artistry and creative genius is found as well. For there are hundreds of priceless paintings or murals that depict various events leading up to Calvary. With the Lord's Supper being probably the most popular portrayal by ancient and relatively modern artists.

Cherish your time together in His presence and find yourself at some point in this weekend's events. Taking time to reflect upon and take in the whole experience of Easter. From Communion to the Stations of the Cross, to coming together in fellowship in a variety of traditional and non-traditional forums.

God bless you all on this special day. I also am going to include a link to dear friends blog concerning this Holy Day that I think will be a blessing to many.

Part 2 on the Sin of Independence by Derek Prince

We have part 2 up and running for you on the Daily message at
CGMF's website. Yesterday, Derek told you about the symptoms
and problems about the sin of independence. Today he is going
to talk about some of the solutions.

I know its kind of hard to sit there and listen as the Word seems
so personal. However, it is exactly this type of " right at you "
Word, that I know is going to make a difference in your life.
Take it in and let it become a word fitly joined to your faith,
that allows you to have victory in your walk with God.

We also will be finishing up on our last principle concerning
becoming a Successful Prayer Warrior. It is simply " Learning
to Pray According to His Word ". I hope you will join us for
that devotion on the Prayerline.

God bless you all and have a great day and take advantage of
these wonderful lessons that will assist your Christian walk.

Updated Prayerline and Information on Format Change.

The Prayerline now has available the final installment on the series " The Covenant Worldview From The Holy Scriptures ". It also can be downloaded at the CGMF
website homepage as well.

Now Friday a new format will take place for the Prayerline. After the input of those who have enjoyed the Prayerline, we are changing our format and making it more intimate. We will have a short word or thought, then I or someone from the staff will have a special word of prayer for you. Also, we might pray for those who have called for special prayer from the ministry. Having you intercede with those whom have asked for a time of intercession. I believe this will be much more effective, and more in line with how we first utilized the service.
