Christianity Past vs. Christianity's Modern Day Version. Are we missing something? | .patrickvossen.com

Christianity Past vs. Christianity's Modern Day Version. Are we missing something? | .patrickvossen.com

From the passing on of Christ's healing ministry, to His message
of love and hope. Something has seriously been forgotten by the
Church of our Lord. The Message Translation is quite blunt, but
very correct in its portrayal of how the ministry of Christ
was to be carried out. Nevertheless, that simplicity has been
replaced by big budgets, big gadgets and fancy shows. That which
Christ handed down as our inheritance in the Church seems to have
been replaced by a soulless, mechanized Christianity.

Hope Is Essential In Life.

Everything comes from love, all is ordained for the salvation of man, God does nothing without this goal in mind. -Saint Catherine of Siena

Everything that flows from our Lord is done out of love. Love that reaches beyond our human comprehension, and sees things from a divine point of view. One which is not hampered by the frailties of human emotions and vain thoughts, but filled with His mercy. For our Lord desires for us to embrace life and not be caught off guard by the distractions of life, but to take hold of the promises He has for us. Why? That we might obtain that ultimate place of Covenantal Love. Which sees the appropriation of His gracious love and provision.

" Don't let the Devil steal your joy "! The bible is clear that the joy of the Lord is our strength, and when that joy is stolen from us. We tend to become emotionally, spiritually even physically drained. Seeing the very spirit of life just taken away from us. My friends in Christ, let's not allow the enemy of our soul steal our joy. Fight back, don't give up, take up the fight of faith and allow God's Holy Spirit to breath fresh joy within you today. Don't give into doubts, fears or any negative thoughts that would disintegrate the work of the Spirit. Let God come alive in your soul. Refresh your mind in the Word of God, listen to inspirational music, encourage one another in love. Remember, if you don't give any place or opportunity to the enemy to steal your joy. He can't rob you of what he can't get a hold of. For he won't be able to penetrate the shield of Faith, and if he does the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God will defeat him every time.

How is your Hope holding up today? Take some time to refocus and channel your efforts in prayer. Renewing your dreams today in His abundant Love. It will be time well spent in the Father's presence.

" Trying To Have Your Own Way. "

1 Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves.

2 You lust for what you don't have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn't yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it.3 And why not? Because you know you'd be asking for what you have no right to. You're spoiled children, each wanting your own way.

4 You're cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way.5 And do you suppose God doesn't care? The proverb has it that "he's a fiercely jealous lover."6 And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you'll find. It's common knowledge that "God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble."
James 4:1-6 The Message Translation

I know we sometimes like to get our way. However, sometimes its not in our
best interests to do so. Especially if we are not praying in accordance to
His will and favor, and allowing for want, greed and selfishness to have its
way in our lives. That heart and attitude does not show forth the Lord's
ownership of our life but the lack thereof.

We need to understand personally and as a society. That to walk with God
and to follow after His will, is more important than we think. For when
we walk out of sync with the Master. Our walk and talk becomes something
totally different than what the Lord desires to relate to our fellow man.
My friends we must guard against wanton selflishness or greed taking control
of our thoughts and actions. For it is in that attitude of heart that wars,
strife, envy and a variety of spiritual and physical maladies infect our
lives. Making for painfully difficult circumstances for us now, as well
as for our future in the days to come.

Put the guardsman, the Holy Spirit at attendance at your heart's door. Give
God the authority to prevent those attitudes and spirit of the evil one to
take residency in your heart and life. Let's make Jesus Lord of our life, and take
advantage of the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in our desires, wants and
circumstances of life. Let's give God the Glory and learn to express His
will in our expression of Life in His precious Name.

What Does The Reformation Mean to YOU?

patrickvossen.com - Weblog

Reformation ends not in contemplation, but in action.

- George Gillespie

Definition of Reformation

The act of reforming, or the state of being reformed; change from worse to better; correction or amendment of life, manners, or of anything vicious or corrupt; as, the reformation of manners; reformation of the age; reformation of abuses.

Reformation and Renovation.

Reformation to most is a period of Christian history where Catholicism
clashed with the Reformers, Calvin, Knox, Luther, Zwingli and others.
However, it was more than an historical event. For it also can become
a personal work in our own lives. When we choose by our actions to allow
God to change and cleanse in a wonderfully pure and personal way our
every day living.

This can only be accomplished by a personal acknowledgment of the need
for change, but the actual reforming doesn't occur till we release
ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit. Then do what we find is
necessary to bring about the positive changes necessary in our lives
to radically alter our form of religion in application. Not allowing it
to just become a statement of faith upon a poster board in my
life, but a living breathing expression of who Jesus Christ is in my
personal life.

This type of reformation can offer God the the opportunity to renovate
your spiritual house, without having to tear it all down. The only problem
is, " How long are you going to put it off ? " Its my prayer you will
give God the opportunity to reform your world and give him the chance
to show you the blueprint of a new YOU. Which can see the Holy Spirit
make you into that house built upon the rock, whose builder and maker
is God.

Good Friday. The Lord's Road To Calvary.

Many years ago when I was a teenager and had really had my " conversion " experience. One where the Lord really and truly became my Lord. I had a unique message I had just recently heard on tape by the Rev. Kloepper. Who was a doctor who gave a medical perspective on the aspects of Calvary and what Christ bore for us. It touched my heart so much and it convinced me and convicted me of my lack of appreciation of Christ's Gift of Love at Calvary.

I was so amazed that this man from Galilee. Who walked and ministered for many years and shared His gifts and graces. Would make his was to a place called Golgatha and allow himself to be nailed at a tree. Forgetting the pain and rejection of friends and loved ones. Giving of himself as he saw the Big Picture that the Father had placed within his heart. He knew this was his appointed time, and a place where all humanity would one day look to for hope in the midst of this world we live. For he would give himself up as the ultimate sacrifice lamb once and for all. No more need for perpetual gifts at the altar, no more need for many of the ceremonial practices of the law. He was establishing a higher order covenant of Grace. Which would bring humanity back into the Father's love by faith in Christ's ultimate gift at the Cross. Oh what a day for all humanity, what a great gift of sacrifice by the Son of God.

It wasn't long after I listened to Dr. Kloepper's message that I wrote a song entitled " Upon Golgatha ". Its had one or two revisions, but it embraced all I felt about the Cross and the love that he gave more me. I am ever thankful for the Old Rugged Cross and what Christ has done for us on the hill called Golgatha. Many are the songs that have been sung, the testimonies that have been given, the books that have been written. However, the greatest thing about the Cross is what it can mean for you and me, if we embrace the man from Galilee. Acknowledging that he's not just another icon, he's not just another historical figure, but none other than the Great I Am. God in flesh the Godhead see, hail the incarnate Deity. Yes, JESUS! Would you give him a chance to come into your heart today and do for you what he has done for millions of others? Give him your life today, embrace the Grace of God. Receive forgiveness of your sins and He will implant His Holy Spirit within you and give you new hope.

Thank God for Calvary. Thank God for the Blood. Thank God He made a way for you and for me.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Chorus ( " Upon Golgatha," By Patrick Vossen )

" Upon Golgatha, He purchased my salvation. Upon Golgatha He died for my
sins. Upon that cruel, cruel cross upon Golgatha He died for me, so that I
could have eternal life "

Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday.

Today we honor the Lord's Supper preceding the Easter Weekend
and our celebration of the Lord's Death and Resurrection. Also,
in some settings of Christianity a foot washing is traditional
for this Christian Holiday.

Traditional Reading from John Chapter 13:1-20 NKJV

1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”

7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”

12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19 Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He. 20 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Here in this passage of New Testament scripture the setting for the Last Supper and footwashing ceremony are commemorated. We also have the charges of the Lord on a couple of issues, and the beginning stages forthcoming in the verses following concerning the betrayal of Judas Iscariot.

In this powerful setting we have so many awesome Christian practices mentioned. I would also like to say as well some of the best imagery of the Church. For here our the beginning stages of what would become a memorial supper we in Christianity cherish. With all its powerful historical narratives concerning the steps being laid for fellowship in the early church, and the Lord's crucifixion and resurrection.

Here during this Easter Week a great deal of the Church's artistry and creative genius is found as well. For there are hundreds of priceless paintings or murals that depict various events leading up to Calvary. With the Lord's Supper being probably the most popular portrayal by ancient and relatively modern artists.

Cherish your time together in His presence and find yourself at some point in this weekend's events. Taking time to reflect upon and take in the whole experience of Easter. From Communion to the Stations of the Cross, to coming together in fellowship in a variety of traditional and non-traditional forums.

God bless you all on this special day. I also am going to include a link to dear friends blog concerning this Holy Day that I think will be a blessing to many.

We have part 2 up and running for you on the Daily message at

Word, that I know is going to make a difference in your life.
Take it in and let it become a word fitly joined to your faith,
that allows you to have victory in your walk with God.

We also will be finishing up on our last principle concerning
becoming a Successful Prayer Warrior. It is simply " Learning

Now Friday a new format will take place for the Prayerline. After the input of those who have enjoyed the Prayerline, we are changing our format and making it more intimate. We will have a short word or thought, then I or someone from the staff will have a special word of prayer for you. Also, we might pray for those who have called for special prayer from the ministry. Having you intercede with those whom have asked for a time of intercession. I believe this will be much more effective, and more in line with how we first utilized the service.

Saint Patrick's Day Personal Thought And Thanksgiving.

Saint Patrick is one of my favorite saints, and his life is as much a mystery to some as a revelation of fresh hope for others. For this man whom came from noble birth and was of upper class status while young, would have his world turned upside down by Irish marauders who would pillage his home and take him from his place of noble surroundings, to an Island so unfamiliar which would become one day his missionary home.

In Ireland things started to change for Patrick. For it was here in this country far from his home that he would become a slave, and his focus would begin to become more dependent upon the Lord than ever before. Because now there were no familiar surroundings. No true family or friends to watch over him and to enjoy their company day and night. Instead there was abusive captors and hungry nights, and a spirit of survival that now overtook his very heart and soul. Because it would take determination and his faith in God, to help him to survive this terrible course that life had taken. However, he would not lose heart and would continue on and believe that God had a purpose in it all, and that hope would be his song.

God took this young man and began to shape his heart and mind in this foreign environment and unhappy setting. Teaching him and helping him to understand this Druid religion that his captors embraced, and one day using that knowledge to set the course of a revival that would change that island country and set Christianity as its divine embrace.

It is said by Saint Patrick, that the only reason he fled from his captors when he did, was because of a visitation from an angel. Which admonished him to escape, and so when he found it prudent he did so, finding himself able to escape his captors then setting a new course for his life through the providence of God. By divine intervention and the wisdom of God Patrick makes his way out of his captors control to freedom and hope. With a divine calling from God, that would actually take him back to the same Irish people whom had abused him so, and preaching the gospel of Christ in love to this heathen and strange world.

We to where in bondage and slavery to sin, whom are the believers of God. We to had been sold into slavery into captivity by the enemy of our soul. However, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ we have found our way of escape, and have found the " Way " that Christ had taught. No longer living to please the masters of sin, but the Lord of Holiness, Grace and Love. Now let us like Patrick give our heart and soul to do the bidding of our true love, and embrace His calling and fulfill our purpose in this world we call our home.

The CGMF Prayerline expands to the UK. Plus, A new message for today. | pdvossen on Xanga

Its exciting to see the expansion and growth of the ministry. As conferences
and virtual live meetings take place along with " The Gathering " services.
The most important thing to remember is the " Discipleship " concept of
this ministry and its Neighborhood to Neighborhood development of
individuals in Christ's love.
